Messenger apps can be used in:
- Messenger Home - to help visitors and customers take actions without even needing to start a conversation.
- Conversations - apps can be added to conversations from the Inbox, to allow customers to take actions from right within the Messenger such as joining a video call or viewing an invoice.
It's up to you if your app works in Home, Conversations, or both.
Apps can be built in a matter of hours, and can be kept just for use by your own team in Intercom, or published in the App Store for other Intercom customers to discover and use too.
